A Very Merry Birthday To You~

Yesterday, the 11th, marked the 5th anniversary of Jenny's 4th birthday (or in laymen's terms, her passage out of teenage-dom and completion of her 20th cycle around the sun).

But really, it was a lovely lazy Saturday. They slept in, bummed around on the internet (DeviantART.com is seriously enabling her procrastination...not that she has much she has to be doing...), and made plans for the Birthday Girl's day which include a trip to the shopping center, cake, and karaoke merriment.

They've found a new shopping center, and so they set off (she, with a backpack on her back to supplement her bike basket's carrying capacity) for CAINZ. The hyaku en (similar to a dollar store in a america, but only because the prices are the same, the merchandise is of much better quality and of a wider selection) shop was their first stop so they could replenish the store of snacky foods they had in the cabinet above the sink. And a few other things like lacey finger-less gloves (that they had wanted to find in Harujuku and were unsuccessful) and eraser pen things (since she can't help but destroy the erasers on the tops of her pencils...). The bento isle there is becoming more and more tempting, with the little plastic containers for onigiri or mini sauce bottles or mini cutters for fun shaped edible decorations... Like this!:

After pulling themselves out of there, they headed over to the actual supermarket Meijer-like store to pick up a few things they would need for their last week in the dorms (since they're moving into their home stays next weekend!!) and then went to McDonald's. Yes, the foodcourt had a McDonald's and she got a LL set (comparable to a large fry and a palm-sized fillet-o-fish... that was so bland it basically tasted like a cold grilled cheese.. But she likes those so it was okay~). She, Katie, and Jenny packed their purchases and biked it back to the dorms to feast.

Then came the hard part. She and Katie had to kick Jenny-the birthday girl-out of their room so they and Rory could set up the cake they had gotten her and put out her presents. Heh, unfortunately, due to humidity, the cake was not in tip-top form anymore:

But Jenny seemed to be surprised when we called her back down to our room for "the bag she forgot" (or at least, she politely acted surprised) and we all enjoyed the delicious confection before heading of to the main event of the night, PAL's Karaoke!

This would be her third time to grace the Karaoke stage and Jenny's debut!

It is safe to say that a good time was had by all, but from now on, she's going to keep a list of artists and songs in her mini memo pad in her purse so that she doesn't forget everything she's ever listened to besides the  obscure bands the karaoke thing doesn't have... Finding songs with out repeating artists is difficult... especially now that she's gone three times~
