Miyajima Island off the coast of Hiroshima is a sacred place that is well known for its impressive free standing
Torii gate (that some people may recognize as the one that EPCOT has modeled in their lagoon)...

Heh-hem! *scolds* "Would you kindly pay attention to your History lesson!" ....There is also the lovely Itsukushima Shrine that is set above the ground on separated wooden planks in order to make it stand during high tide and dangerous storms..

It is said that this shrine was founded in honor of the lost samurai that was led to this place by two crows..

OH! YES! And there are also beautiful coastlines to explore and see the Island from new perspectives from!

So on this island, much to her delight, the furry-normally-forest/woodland-dwelling-creatures don't run away from you... In fact they allow you to approach them:

And will even approach you, whether or not you happen to have an actual treat for them to try, they'll improvise

Marguerite: Ever seen an Alice with a blossom like that?
Snap-dragon: Come to think of it, did you ever see an Alice?
Marguerite: Yes, and did you notice her petals? What a peculiar color!

Marguerite: Hahaha! Just look at those stems!
Snap-dragon: Rather scrawny, I'd say.

But it was so much fun! They traveled by Ferry boat from Hiroshima after they had walked around most of the museums and historical sites. She rather liked the audacity of these dear creatures, especially when they could be seen nosing their way into the shops looking for a snack~
In the end, everyone left with a much lighter heart (and darker skin if you happened to let yourself be exposed) than they arrived with. And Our Fair Traveler was also reconciled with her former foe and they became dear friends in the end~

I miss those deer already/I want to see the healthier ones in Nara before this trip is over. Unfortunately for everyone, it's going to get to be much too hot out to stand up straight soon, and I fear that I will not much have the drive to visit them, then.
